Check out the Mirial Desktop Products Comparison Chart.

How do I deal with my Firewall/NAT traversal issues?

ClearSea acts as session border control and IP Gateway solving most Firewall/NAT traversal issues. For an overview of ClearSea deployment scenarios and firewall configuration check out the related document.

How CPU performances influence ClearSea client?

ClearSea client is engineered in order to get the most out of the available CPU power, and is able to dynamically adapt the call quality to available CPU by changing framerate and resolution.

Mirial was the first company to develop and launch an HD 720p capable desktop client back in Jun2007, and a Full HD 1080p capable desktop client in Feb2009; this has been possible thanks to the tremendous effort placed in the software optimization and R&D.

For example, very old Pentium 4 CPU can still support high-quality calls with ClearSea, while a Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz CPU is suggested for HD720p calls. Even on a netbook it is possible to enjoy a H263 384kilobit call.

Moreover, if a user launches a CPU intensive program during a call, ClearSea client automatically adapts to available CPU optimizing its performance and goes back to original quality once the user closes the other program.

How do I connect to my LDAP/Active Directory?

ClearSea user authentication can be performed on the internal database or demanded to an external LDAP server.

In order to configure the LDAP authentication, Administrator needs to follow these simple tasks.

Go to "SERVICE" > "ClearSea Endpoint" section of the ClearSea server control panel and set the following:
  • Clients Authentication Mode: select "LDAP"
  • LDAP Host: insert LDAP server hostname or IP address
  • LDAP Domain: insert your company LDAP domain (e.g. company.com)

With LDAP authentication, ClearSea client user login is checked first on the ClearSea server (only to check if the username exists) and then on the LDAP server (username/password).

ClearSea does not require nor use anonymous BIND.

Can I integrate ClearSea in a web page?

Yes! You can integrate ClearSea Client in web pages by using the following commands:

  • clearsea://address     start a call to address on the active line
  • clearsea://!!!q     quit ClearSea Client
  • clearsea://!!!m     minimize ClearSea Client
(the same actions can be triggered by the "callto://" command as well)

By simply clicking on the relevant command, a call is launched to the desired recipient. For example, it is possible to create custom online contact lists for every user.
These commands are valid regardless of the user's browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, ...)

A simple example of HTML code showing web integration follows:
